The 5th International Symposium presented during the SIEE Pollutec fair a large range of prime importance subjects for the main actors of water in Algeria. The first day of the international symposium was dedicated to the conference entitled "Water and sanitation services management in the urban environment". The Commercial management of water services in Algiers, infrastructure protection, prevention of natural risks, the pricing of water and water runoff control in urban areas are among the topics that were exposed by Algerian and French experts. The second day of the symposium focussed on "Sustainable investments in the water equipment industry project management, equipment selection, maintenance and training of key actors and know-how transfer». The case of pumps and their energy efficiency was introduced by leader exhibitors on the show Three technical workshops have completed this program with emphasis on:

• The Algerian situation in the supply of chlorine. Expectations and requirements of alternative solutions for water treatment.
• The municipal wastewater treatment - the case of sewer systems in Brussels, Belgium.
• The protection of ductile iron pipes buried.
