SIEE Pollutec 2008, the International Exhibition of Water Equipment and Services, more than lived up to expectations by drawing 5,500 trade visitors to Algiers from 19^th to 22^nd May, a 65% increase on the 2007 show!

This fourth show clearly demonstrated just how interested Algerian water professionals are in an annual event devoted to a full range of technologies geared to the problems of countries suffering from water stress combined with a high quality conference programme covering headline themes.  

The show was a great success, with 289 exhibitors, 57% of whom were from outside Algeria (there were 3 national stands: Spain, France, Italy), occupying over 8,000 m². In the space of 4 years the exhibition area has doubled and compared with 2007 it grew by 26%. 

There was a strong Algerian presence (58% of the total exhibition area) involving both the public water sector, led by the Ministry of Water Resources, and numerous Algerian manufacturers and distributors. These ranged from the sector’s leaders to new private sector companies and numerous foreign companies incorporated under Algerian law.

The International Symposium on the subject of “Sustainable water management: sharing experiences and alternative approaches” excited considerable interest. Attracting nearly 400 attendees, many of whom were from the public water sector, it provided an opportunity to share the experiences of neighbouring countries such as Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt… The extent of its success is reflected in the highly professional objectives of its visitors, who came both to meet new suppliers and to discover new technical solutions, as well as to learn and to gather information.
